The Most Photographed Generation

Dec 19, 2019

We've all heard some form of the statement:

50 years from now, the most photographed generation will have no photos.

Stop and let that sink in for a just a minute.

The most photographed generation. No photos.

Just imagining that thought brings tears to my eyes. It cannot happen. It's not possible. I treasure pictures of my kiddos growing up in a way I can't even put into words.

When you hear of someone with a house fire, what's the one thing they always try to take with them. Yep, their photos. It's all that matters.

Our photos are priceless memories. Every mama knows and feels that.

I believe that's why our phones are bursting with the number of photos we take. We are so afraid of not documenting our lives, our children's lives. Afraid of not being able to remember these moments.

Holidays always make the memory keeping more real. More deliberate.

But what comes after? Do all these photos just get lost into the abyss of thousands of other photos?

We know the photos are all there, but can we access them? Where are the ones we want to find right now?

In 20 years are we going to gather 'round the computer screen and reminisce about that Christmas in 2019? Or maybe your photos haven't even made it to the computer. Are we all looking, stretching to see the phone screen? We may only look at a handful of photos because it's just too hard to see them.

I feel an urgency to start helping mamas begin to get this photo thing under control. We can't lose these precious memories.

We have to move from not doing anything because it's too overwhelming, to beginning to take small conscious steps to preserving these memories and making them accessible to future generations.

Here's the heart of the matter:

Keeping our precious memories for our kids...and their kids...and their kids.

It starts with us, the mamas.

Take my hand and join me. As the new year begins I will help you begin that process, step by step.

And next year at Christmas, you can gather your family around and together, view and reminisce and hold the photos. Pass the album around. Let the conversations flow.

Let the love flow...
